A 1 About Me

Hello! My name is Brandon!

I'm a Software Engineer with over 7 years of professional experience. I'm most experienced doing backend work, but my most recent experiences have seen me doing more frontend. I'm always expanding my knowledge as a jack of all trades.

Recently, I've dipped my toes into the cloud. I've obtained my developer certifications in AWS and Azure. This website should be hosted in one of them right now!

Outside of programming, I enjoy Mountain Biking, Golf, and Valorant.

The Story So Far

Auto-Owners Insurance

I initially interned with Auto Owners back in 2014. I was hired on as a C# developer on the Windows Team. This was my first exposure to SQL, ASP.NET MVC, and Javascript.

I was hired here as a full time associate in 2018 as a Java developer. I had my first exposure to Spring.

I was quickly transferred to the .NET team in need of a C# developer. My responsibilities involved expanding functionality and creating API services for our front end teams. This included auth, feature toggling solutions, desktop applications, and much much more.

While the sub team I was on focused more on the Dev side of DevOps, I still had some exposure into creating Jenkins jobs, deploying to Openshift, and spinning pods up and down.

I also had the opportunity to mentor new associates to the team, and eventually lead our sprints and organized our work on Jira.

Epic Systems

Epic was my first job out of college after graduating in 2016. I was again hired as a C# developer, converting old VB code to C# for the new system. It was also my first exposure to Typescript and NoSQL.

I was placed on the cardiology team, Cupid, as I thought it was fitting given a heart condition I was born with.

What was really interesting with this role was that we were sent to various hospitals using our software. I got to fly around the country and work directly with doctors in South Carolina, California, and Rhode Island.

Humana

Humana was my second internship in college, during the summer of 2015 and extending into the fall semester. I was slapped on a team of fellow interns and a couple contractors to create a UI for an internal WCF. My role was to take that WCF and expose it via REST API in .NET. The other interns took that API and built a front end around it.

My time at Humana was short, but was one of the most memorable experiences of my career. Kentucky was warm.
